Kando Martial Arts proudly serving Melbourne since 1997
Who we are
and why you should train here
Since we’ve opened, we’ve been dedicated to changing the lives of people one person at a time, through martial arts, education and coaching. We strive to provide a safe, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere for all students and family members. We take pride in creating an environment for individuals to achieve, develop and succeed in their personal goals.
We strongly believe that martial arts can be for everyone, regardless of age, gender or experience levels. Throughout all of our programs, students will not only learn the necessary skill sets to protect themselves, we stand behind our realistic and practical approach, confident it will enable every member to achieve greatness and live their best life.
Sensei Andy
Sensei Andy began Martial Arts with Kando at the age of 12 after being bullied by some older children. Over 15 years of training in the junior program and then with the Teen & Adult class, Martial Arts gave him the confidence to grow the person he has now become.

Sensei Andy has been teaching with Kando for over 10 years. In 2015 Sensei Andy switched dojo’s from Kando Hughesdale to Kando Rowville and helped grow the club into the second biggest Kando Club. He is now starting the journey for his own Kando Club in Knox.
Sensei Andy has been planning to open his own dojo for such a long time, he knew that’s what he was going to do since he was 18.
He has studied Exercise and Sports Science from Victoria University and holds a Bachelor of Business from Monash University in preparation for the administration side of running his own club.
Sensei Andy is an experienced Martial Artist. He currently holds a 4th Degree Black Belt in Kando, as well as a Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He has also trained in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman Wrestling for 6 years with Team Takedown and Coach Chris Shen. He has also had experience training in Boxing, Kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts.
Sensei Andy knows that continuing to train in both Martial Arts and other aspects of life is very important to keep a balanced life and to continue to grow.
